22 June 2008 - Today is a historical day for me because it was the annual St John Day. The St John Day highlights the cadet 1st year oath taking, prize giving and the promotion for active and commited members. I woke up early and arrived at headquarters around 7.10am. My friends who applied for promotion were with me too. We received a letter from headquarters that our application for promotion was approved a week ago. Around 8.30am, we were instructed into the hall and have our seat. There was many people who attended this meaningful event. The VIPs invited were the area commander, Dr Michael Y.L. Cheong and the founder of St John Ambulance in SMI, Mr Ng Khoon Hong. I was promoted to Cadet Corporal whereas some of my friends received their certificates of appreciation and certificates of 100 duty hours + service shield. The results of the St John Day for my fellow friends were as belows:
Cheah Wai Hoong - promoted from Adult Corporal to Adult Sergeant
Looi Hong Wei - promoted from Adult Lance Corporal to Adult Corporal
Fong Teik Sum - promoted from Cadet Private to Cadet Corporal & received certificate of 100 duty hours + service shield
Wong Yoong Xiang - promoted from Cadet Private to Cadet Corporal
