A Glorious Night

Saturday, July 25, 2009
25 July 2009 - The Interschool Band Competition was held yesterday. The stadium was filled with loads of spectators and supporters who pledge their never-ending support to the respective schools. For me, I support the Michaelian Military Band! They had been training for so many weeks that they have to sacrifice their studies time only for this competition. 7 schools from in and around Perak took part. Without saying much, here are the results:

Champion: SMK Sam Tet, Ipoh
1st Runner-up: SMK St. Michael, Ipoh
2nd Runner-up: SMJK Nan Hwa, Sitiawan
Best Drum Major: SMK Sam Tet, Ipoh
Best Colour Guards: SMJK Nan Hwa, Sitiawan
Best Preparation: SMJK Nan Hwa, Sitiawan

Congratulations to the Michaelian Military Band for bringing back the pride to our alma mater.

Open Sesame

Thursday, July 9, 2009
9 July 2009 - First and foremost...
HaPpY BiRthDaY
to my elder sister, Serena Tan for reaching 20 in her life.

Open Day falls on this day too. That means parents will be coming to school starting 10am to collect their child's report card. From what I can observe, various comments were given by my class teacher, Cik Siti to the students, mixed with positive and negative.

My mom went and when it was my turn to collect, Cik Siti showed the comments written by all my subject teachers to my mom. The longest comment came from Puan Shaw Wanni. The rest are just mixed reviews from the teachers.

Some teachers were praising me a good boy and has high potential but some are just telling the truth by saying me talkative and playful. I have to admit that those comments are partially true because only on certain subjects I felt boring and my concentration dropped. In less than 2 months, I will be sitting for my SPM trial and what I get for this mid-term exam was 2 fails and the rest just lying on the borderline. Buck up!

The consequences? Banned me from all activities for my St John Ambulance. Can't go out with my friends more frequent too....

Big Day or Trouble Day?

Wednesday, July 8, 2009
8 July 2009 - Today marks the day of me being 17 years living in planet Earth. That's basically not my highlight for updating my blog post. This morning I went to class as usual. First period was English, my form teacher's class. She did an amazing discovery by finding out the friendster™ profile of my class - 5sc4. Splendid! I never tought how she was able or how she managed to find it. Nevermind, that's not my concern anyway.

But somehow, someone from my class edited the profile by slotting in unecessary stuff and negative reviews about the teachers. Cik Siti was damn pissed off today from the way she talked with us. She even printed out more than 4 to 5 pages of that profile. I can't and don't remember whether did I put any negative comment on that profile or not. Big trouble!

Cik Siti cursed that individual who owned that profile for unable to get a good teacher in the future. OMG! I mean, the situation was so serious today. Everyone was speechless that time. For me myself, I don't know what to say. The profile even have my class namelist there. That means it represented us who did such things to our teachers. What the...

Rain, Rain, (Wont) Go Away

Sunday, July 5, 2009
5 July 2009 - I am damn pissed off today. The day has come for the Ipoh International Run. I have been waiting for this day for a couple of months or more, but it ended up raining for almost 3 hours. From the moment I woke up until 8am, raining non stop. When I reached the stadium around 8.15am, my friend told me that the run has started 15 minutes earlier. DAMN la! Feeling frustrated, I went home to continue my slumber. =D

Anyway, congratulations to those who managed to complete the work within the time limit. And well done to you, Xinh Guan who get a certificate and a medal for the top 200.

A Walk To The Star

Tuesday, June 23, 2009
21 June 2009 - I participated in the Starwalk event this year. Nothing much, no picture is taken so no need bother looking for my pictures, lolz. 11,000 participants this year, that's a huge amount, and the organizers are looking forward to a 15,000 heads next year? Get a certificate as usual, not challenging at all. Went with my younger sister and my friends. There is no need to mention how I walk or did I follow the rules, the answer will always be YES =D. For the overall point of view, Starwalk was just like a warm up for me =P, the real challenge is the long-awaited Ipoh International Run! Here I come, haha.

Holidays = Holy Days

Sunday, June 14, 2009
14 June 2009 - The last day of the 2-week break from school. I had attended 2 camps namely the Universal Camp III and SMI Annual NCO Camp. 8 days passed for both camps. The only day to relax with my friends was the first Friday which we managed to hang out at Ipoh Parade. Get a life man. Revision was not done much too!

Holidays homework? Just a few pages from a few subjects. Haiz.. Almost spent all my free time online and surfing the web. Busy chatting with friends. Met freaking lots of new friends from the Universal Camp. All talkative and like to say nonsense.. =.=''

Have to start revising after the holidays. That means I will be less online and joke around with friends. Haiz.. Really no life..

Universal Camp III

Saturday, June 6, 2009
The Universe
5 June 2009 - I went for the Universal Camp III jointly organized by the St John Ambulance of my division and a few other divisions. The 4 days 3 nights camp at SMJK Yuk Choy (SUWA), Jelapang started from 31 May to 3 June. Approximately 140 members joining and if including the committee members, there were around 200.
All Members Fall In
I have nothing much to do in that camp as I was the secretary. First day was a big rush. 5 hours before the registration at 1pm, I had to rush for the makings of the campers' nametags as the officer likes last-minute work.
Tents Were Being Set Up
Second day, rushing for certificates, so many errors from the list given and until the end of the camp, the certificates were yet to be done. DAMN IT!

SMI Performance - Singing 'Here In My Home'

From the feedbacks from the members, it was indeed boring for the programs or games carried out. The members were complaining about how boring the games were. The RM75 was not worth it, what the hell?!? They even have the golden opportunity to slumber at the tents for their nights. And what they said was too many mosquito and too hot. Go sleep in the hotels VIPs!

Program Leader - Tai Zhen Yeik

We had jungle trekking for the Outdoor Pursuit badge on the second day. It was a very very fun and unusual experience for me. We came across obstacles and slides which requires robe to climb through. Wasted much time there.

Sweet 'Couples' - Ivy and Joe Hang

Thanks for the scout which led us to the wrong path, the whole group which I was following stepped through a muddy place and our lower limbs almost sank into the soft ground. The scout really deserve a certificate of excellent with a 5 star gold stamp on it.

Mr Lau and Sir Leong Kar Heng

Mr Lau Kok Weng. A very supportive teacher advisor from SMJK Yuk Choy (SUWA). He granted me permission to print all the 200+ certificates using his Canon™ colour printer. WOW! I don't know how to describe, but he is really really kind. Maybe it was due to the no-officer or lack of supportive teacher advisor for my school's St John Ambulance.

Closing ceremony. I was appointed as the emcee/ master of ceremony. I was informed on the eleventh hour and I don't have much preparation. Luckily I managed to gone through it without much trouble.

Presenting Sourvenir to The Superb Magician

Overall, this camp lacked of planning and cooperation between the committees. However, new friendships were made and the bonds between divisions were strengthen. That's the one and only thing we treasured the most.

Camp Commander - Looi Hong Wei

Teh Sek Kit and 'His Girl'

(Left) Camp Commander's Crush and (Right) Donivald's Friend

Medical Leader, Wong Ee Ling - ARGHHHHHH!,cute girl!!

Conversation and Consolation

Thursday, May 28, 2009
27 May 2009 - The comments by my Sejarah teacher, Pn. Shaw Wanni...

SW: Ivan, come here.. (distributing Sejarah paper 2)
SW: Class, did the sejarah paper asking you who is your Sejarah teacher?
SW: Ivan.....Ivan...
SW: As far as I know, you have been a very good boy when I taught you in form 3. But I have to tell you honestly, from the first day in my class this year, you have been talking non-stop.. You mixed around with the wrong people..(looking at Jashen). You tell me that you deserved to get that mark for your paper 1 or not?
ME: Yes.......
SW: You are a very smart boy, and in fact, you are very handsome too...
SW: I mean he is presentable right? At least he is better than some of you here. Ivan, I have to tell you seriously, you will be going downwards right after you finish you SPM. Do you know that you are digging your own grave?
SW: And now you are doing things like this. 32/40 marks is very good, but you are soooo kind-hearted and that makes you get the marks you deserved.. And you did the same thing on your paper 2, writing my name, so is it fair if i deduct 10 marks from your paper?
ME: Yes.....
SW: You show that to your mother and if she is not satisfied, ask her to come and talk to me..

Zero Lesson

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

26 May 2009 - So many things has been happening lately. The piles up troubles were enough to make me headache. However, the problems aren't just problems when you did not realise your mistake and what you are doing. For the first time ever, I get a big 0 for my Sejarah paper 1. The excuse given by teacher was I am the main supplier for answers to the people surrounding me. It's undeniable because the person sitting behind and beside me were getting the same marks with me. Geez! I was totally speechless that time. DAMN

The second part is, I realised that I have changed a lot since form 1. The change towards a more bad and more uncomfortable ME. Maybe it was the friends that I mix around with that influences me. But there is one thing for sure, I strongly believe that the friends around you makes your character. To make things simpler, what your friends do and what friends you are mixing with are what you are. A change of character can be good or vice versa. I feel like going back time and look at what I've behaved throughout my schooling life.
